ABO Specific Multivitamin

INTRODUCTION

These peerless multiple vitamin and mineral formulas are carefully designed by Dr. D’Adamo to reflect the individual health concerns and precise nutritional needs of each blood type. Polyvite blood-type specific multivitamins provide the body’s nutritional requirements when under occasional daily stress or during conditions of high biological demand, and when this nutrient need cannot be provided by food derived forms of vitamins alone.

DESCRIPTION/ BACKGROUND

Polyvite O was designed as a ‘metabolic activator’ for type O individuals, providing all the adjuvants necessary for proper protein breakdown and assimilation. Polyamine sequestration, enhancement of the adrenal-stress response, proper thyroid function and digestive health also figure prominently in the formulation.

Acerola Cherry

  • Contains 66 times the vitamin C of orange juice, and provides 100% of the RDA of vitamin C
  • Promotes digestive health and growth of friendly bacteria

Thiamin

  • An essential vitamin required as a cofactor for multiple enzymatic activities.

Riboflavin

  • Necessary for ATP production
  • Supports reduction and generation of glutathione
  • May also show benefits in migraines

Niacin

  • Supports cholesterol levels
  • Helps in supporting the heart and vascular health

Vitamin B6

  • Supports proper neurotransmitter production
  • Supports liver health
  • Supports metabolism of homocysteine

Folate

  • Important in DNA synthesis
  • Supports metabolism of homocysteine
  • Involved in functioning of the nervous system

Methylcobalamin (Active B12)

  • Helps balance melatonin metabolism
  • Aids in cortisol metabolism

Biotin

  • Aids in the utilization of sugar and glucose
  • Supports fatty acid oxidation

Pantothenic Acid

  • Key component of energy production in the TCA cycle
  • Supports synthesis of healthy cholesterol, heme and acetylcholine

Kelp (Laminaria species)

  • Contains alginates which can help bind heavy metals and protect against harmful lectins
  • Is a rich source of plant polysaccharides and trace minerals

Blueberry/ Elderberry Complex

  • Offers more antioxidant activity than any of 40 fruits and vegetables tested by Tufts University and the USDA
  • Promotes the phase II detoxification enzyme quinine reductase
  • Inhibits the enzyme ODC, thereby decreasing potentially toxic and carcinogenic bowel polyamines
  • Is a rich source of health promoting proanthocyanadins
  • Has been found to help delay the onset of age-related declines in cognitive function
  • Inhibits bacterial adherence

Rhodiola rosea

  • Rhodiola rosea has been categorized as an adaptogen by Russian researchers due to its observed ability to increase resistance to a variety of chemical, biological, and physical stressors. Its claimed benefits include antidepressant, anticancer, cardioprotective, and central nervous system enhancement.
  • Research also indicates great utility in asthenic conditions (decline in work performance, sleep difficulties, poor appetite, irritability, hypertension, headaches, and fatigue) developing subsequent to intense physical or intellectual strain. The adaptogenic, cardiopulmonary, protective, and central nervous system activities of Rhodiola rosea have been attributed primarily to its ability to influence levels and activity of monoamines and opioid peptides such as betaendorphins.

Choline

  • Supports brain function
  • Key component of the cellular membrane

Arabinogalactan pulp

  • Promotes growth of friendly bacteria
  • Supports immune system health

Artichoke leaf

  • Supports healthy bile production
  • Digestive aid
  • Manages cholesterol levels

Deglycyrrhized Licorice Root

  • Digestive aid
  • Demulscent to the digestive tract

Fennel Seed Extract

  • Carminative herb to support gas and bloating

Ginger rhizome extract (5% pungent compounds)

  • Balances eicosanoids
  • Enhances bioavailablity of other compounds
  • Enhances liver function
  • Promotes gastric motility and healthy digestion

Horsetail Aerial Parts

  • Supports connective tissue production
  • Horsetail has been used traditionally to support the urinary tract.

Inositol

  • Inositol is a fundamental ingredient of cell membranes and is necessary for proper function of nerves, brain, and muscles in the body.
  • Inositol is primarily used in the treatment of liver problems, depression, panic disorder, and diabetes. It also aids in the breakdown of fats, helps in the reduction of blood cholesterol

Para-Aminobenzoic Acid (PABA)

  • Supports joints, tendons and ligaments
  • Connective tissue support

Sarsaparilla Root Extract

  • Specific constituents in sarsaparilla support

Turmeric root

  • Contains powerful antioxidant, anti-carcinogenic and anti-inflammatory compounds
  • Inhibits the enzyme ODC, thereby decreasing potentially toxic and carcinogenic bowel polyamines
  • Promotes gastric integrity, increases mucin production, and offers gastro-protective effects

L-Tyrosine

  • Tyrosine is important to the structure of almost all proteins in the body.
  • It is also the precursor of several neurotransmitters, including l-dopa, dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine.
  • Tyrosine, through its effect on neurotransmitters, may affect several health conditions, including Parkinson’s disease, depression, and other mood disorders.
  • Studies have suggested that tyrosine may help people with depression.

 Stinging Nettle Leaf

  • Nettle leaf is a natural diuretic and supports healthy kidney function.
  • Supports the immune response by modulating histamine and allergies.

Astragalus (A. membranaceus) root extract (0.8-1% isoflavones)

  • Premiere immune balancing herb with a demonstrated ability to increase NK cell activity
  • Modulates cytokine production away from pro-inflammatory and towards balanced immune performance.
  • Adaptogenic reputation in stress

Carnitine

  • Carnitine’s protective effects are associated primarily with heart health. It has been shown to be a factor in the protection against heart disease.
  • One of a number of additional health benefits of carnitine is that it increases fat metabolism.

TYPICAL DOSAGE
