INTRODUCTION

DESCRIPTION/ BACKGROUND

Fem Balance contains the following plant vitamins and medicines:

Vitamin B6 (from Pyridoxine 5-Phosphate) helps promote metabolic and nerve health, helps ensure the safe and effective removal of AGE’s (Advanced Glycation Endproducts) from the body, helps regulate healthy cholesterol metabolism, and aids in the production of DNA and RNA, the body’s genetic material. (8)

Vitex agnus-castus Berry (Chastetree) has a long history of use in hormone imbalance and infertility. (1)

Cimicifuga racemosa Root (Black Cohosh) A review of 8 human studies on the effectiveness of Cimicifuga racemosa (black cohosh) for the symptoms of menopause. Study concludes it is a safe and effective alternative to estrogen. (2)

Petroselinum crispun Leaf (Parsley) Active anti-periodic properties have been ascribed to apiol. It is a nerve stimulant. It controls excessive night sweats. (3)

Cnicus benedictus Herb (Blessed Thistle) is employed as a gentle tonic to the liver. (4)

Mitchella repens Herb (Squawvine) has been used by medical herbalists for many years, in particular for ‘uterine congestion.’ (3) It has also been used as an anti-spasmodic for uterine cramps. (7)

Angelica sinensis Root (Dong Quai) is one of China’s most popular herbs for women. It has traditionally been used for menopause, hot flashes, as a natural estrogen and hormone balancer, and for nervousness and spasms.

Viburnum opulus Bark (Cramp Bark) has a soothing, relaxing effect on the uterus. (5)

Leonurus cardiaca Herb (Motherwort) is a traditional uterine tonic. (6)

Matricaria recutita Flower (German Chamomile) is used for a gentle relaxing effect.

ACTIONS/ INDICATIONS

The combination of traditional herbal medicines is designed for use in any blood type. The herbal formula was blended to provide a broad level of activity against the most common and unwanted symptoms of menopause. However, the formula can be expected to have benefit in dysmenorrhea as well.


TYPICAL DOSAGE

Typical dosage is 1-2 capsules, 1-3 times daily. In general start with lower doses and increase gradually until symptomatic relief ensues.

PRODUCT HISTORY

Fem Balance was introduced in 2002 after first being designed specifically for use in The D’Adamo Clinic.
